There is good news for rabbit owners as the Filavac RHD (Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease) vaccination has now been recognised by the VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directorate).
This means that vets are more free to prescribe this vaccination which is an important protection against the variant strain of RHD which has caused the death of many rabbits across the UK. For a map of cases, please click here. The vaccine is licensed for annual use. All rabbits are at risk from this horrible disease so unless there is a medical reason not to, all rabbits should be vaccinated. The vaccine is not licensed to be used alongside the Nobivac Myxo-RHD vaccine so most vets will recommend at least 2 weeks between each vaccination.
