As a child, there were a number of stories about cats and other felines that I enjoyed. Below are a few of my favourites.
Six Dinner Sid is the story of a cat who enjoys a meal each a day with six different families in the same street. All goes well until one day he is found out and everyone discovers that the cat they thought was theirs actually also belongs to five other people!
The Cat Who Wanted to Go Home – Suzy is a French cat who accidentally gets transported to England in a hot air balloon. She is desperate to get home to her family, particularly her young friend who always strokes her the wrong way. A bit of water won’t stop this little cat!
The Cat in the Hat – a fun rhyming book for young children.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea is a fun picture book where an unexpected visitor comes for a meal. Tigers are large, hungry creatures which take a lot of feeding!
The Tale of Tom Kitten – one of Beatrix Potter’s classic tales about three kittens who get themselves into lots of trouble when their mother hosts a dinner party.
The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips – I read this book as an adult and found it very moving, the story of a cat and a little girl in a world of war.
