Did you know that 1 in 22 dogs in the UK suffer from dry eye?
Do you own one of the predisposed breeds?
- Cocker Spaniel
- West Highland White Terrier
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- Shih Tzu
- Lhasa Apso
- Yorkshire Terrier
July is Dry Eye Awareness Month. In predisposed breeds, up to 1 in 10 dogs will suffer from dry eye which can lead to permanent blindness.
Early diagnosis of the condition is vital as early treatment is the most successful. If your dog is prone to eye infections or you own one of the breeds listed above, ask your vet to do a Schirmer Tear Test. It only takes 60 seconds per eye and could save your dog’s sight.
